St. Rose School NewsletterMay 30, 2008
I still cannot believe that today is the last day of school. As the children and teachers are saying goodbye and everyone is wrapping up for this year, I am preparing for next year. Thank you and good luck to Mrs. Johnston, Mrs. Kurzawa, and to Mrs. Van Duyne for their years of dedication to St. Rose School. As we say goodbye to three wonderful teachers, we welcome four new teachers to our staff for next year. Mrs. Susan Jackson will be teaching Kindergarten. Mrs. Jackson graduated from Governors State and resides in Bourbonnais. She comes to St. Rose with a lot of experience teaching Kindergarten through 3rd Grade Reading. She especially has had experience for the past two years as a Title 1 Reading Specialist. She is very enthusiastic and excited about teaching Kindergarten at St. Rose. Miss Kristy Hansen, our new 2nd grade teacher just graduated from Illinois State University. She resides in Chebanse. Miss Hansen earned a degree in Early Elementary Education. Her specialty is concentrated on Preschool through 3rd Grade. Tuesday, she visited Mrs. Kurzawa and then went to Mrs. Vimpeny’s class to meet the 1st graders who will be in her class next year. Mrs. Tracy Sondag who many of you know as our 2nd Grade aide and Jr. High Math aide this year will be teaching 4th Grade part-time next year. Mrs. Sondag began her college career in Oklahoma at the University of Central Oklahoma and completed her degree at St. Francis University. She earned a B.A. in Elementary Education with endorsements in Learning Behaviors. Mrs. Specht will teach Science and Social Studies to the fourth grade since Mrs. Sondag is only part-time. Mrs. Jana Viano will be teaching Jr. High Math. She lives in Diamond. Mrs. Viano earned her a B.A. degree from the University of Kansas. She received her Post Baccalaureate Teaching Degree in Elementary Education in 2008 from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mrs. Viano is very excited about teaching Math. The 5th through 7th grade students have met Mrs. Viano recently when she substiuted in Mrs. Mosier's and Mrs. Plese's class. I will be concentrating on hiring a food service for our hot lunch program for the next school year.. I do have two services that I am considering. I will consider what the students would like to eat and what it will cost the parents. Enclosed you will find a flyer from the Wilmington Middle School about Summer athletic camps. Mrs. Beth Norman brought these by yesterday. The deadlines are today. She assured me that they take registration up to the date of first day of camp. The office will be open in June and August from 8am-Noon Monday through Friday. In conclusion, I would like to wish all of you a safe, happy, and enjoyable vacation. Thank you for all your support this year and may God bless you. I look forward to a great 2008-2009 with your children.
Thank You Rita Rabideau (Mrs. Johnston’s mother) for giving us a wonderful assembly for our last days of school. Chris Fascione is a great storyteller and we all enjoyed him very much. Thank You Sharon Wuethrich, Maureen Plese, Dawn Smith, Sharon Homerding, Jodi Lombardi, Christa Raymond, Diane Van Duyne, Susan Koziol, and Ali Holman for being on the Uniform Committee. Thank you to the anonymous donor who printed the uniform choices in color for parents to view. |
